The 2011 National Officer Candidates (NOC) rocked it at the 2011 FCCLA National Leadership Conference! The twenty candidates were selected from the total number of candidates by the nominating committee. The speeches were held in two groups, one in the morning and one after lunch. All of the speeches were memorized and had to be three minutes or less.
Each candidate added their own flare to the election process with their “one-of-a-kind” speeches. They were very polished in their business attire as they graced the stage. The speeches focused on how FCCLA promotes diversity and evolves to changing times.
While listening to the speeches, members and voting delegates were inspired by the accomplishments of the NOC’s. Their speeches gave insight into the many opportunities that FCCLA offers. Once done with the speeches, the candidates headed over to participate in the FishBowl, where the voting delegates posed questions to the candidates. Elections took place later on in the evening as each state casted their vote for the ten candidates. Results were announced the next morning after a run-off was held. The ten newly elected National Officers are listed below:
■Miguel Astello, Texas
■Tori Coates, Oklahoma
■Alex Durham, Arkansas
■Ariana Lake, Montana
■Kaylen Larson, Minnesota
■Kristy Paquette, Texas
■Jessica Pope, Georgia
■Jessie Pratt, Wisconsin
■Kelcie Sturgeon, West Virginia
■Hannah Wright, Nebraska
Congratulations to all of the National Officer Canidates for your hardwork and dedication to the organization!
